The PBTISD Board of Trustees approved a new bond referendum at its meeting on February 9th, 2023, aimed at the Districts comprehensive plan to improve every facility in the District. The bond referendum, which will appear on the ballot in the upcoming May elections, was developed by a Stakeholder Steering committee comprised of educators, parents, students, and community leaders.
The bond referendum, if approved by voters, will provide necessary funds to make vital improvements to the District's aging infrastructure, enhance technology resources and improve safety measures to better serve the students and staff of PBTISD. The board approved three propositions be placed on the ballot:
Proposition A - $411,560,711
- Pecos High School Replacement
- Crockett Middle School Comprehensive Additions/Renovations
- PBTISD Staff Professional Development & Parent Support Center
- PBTISD Transportation Complex Additions/Renovations
- PBTISD Department Capital Needs
Proposition B - $34,265,744
- Pecos High School Natatorium Replacement
Proposition C - $800,000
- 1-to-1 devices for students and staff

This is an exciting time for our schools and our community, as this bond will help us continue the work of providing our students with the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century," said Superintendent Brent Jaco. "Our schools are at the heart of our community and this bond will help ensure that they continue to be a source of pride for generations to come."
With current assessed values, the District will be able to hold their tax rate flat, and there will be no tax increase to complete any of the projects in the May 2023 bond! Additionally, the District offers a 20% homestead exemption on top of the state’s homestead exemption.
